Inclusive Fitness Initiative
Many of our Centres have been registered as part of the Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI), a Sport England Lottery Funded project that supports fitness facilities to become inclusive, catering for the needs of disabled and non-disabled people alike. As part of their registration the Centres have made developments in terms of access to the centre (where required) and have bought some new fitness equipment in the gym that can be used by both disabled and non-disabled people. Our instructors have received additional training to help customers to use our new IFI accredited equipment which will strengthen and tone muscle as well as help improve aerobic fitness. Registered sites display the logo on their site information page. DC Leisure were recognised by the IFI with an Award in 2008 for Demonstrating Corporate Commitment.

Change4Life
DC Leisure is a supporter of Change4Life, the Department of Health's (DH) society-wide movement that aims to prevent people from becoming overweight by encouraging them to eat better and move more. The campaign is running for 3 years, from January 2009 to December 2011.
To maintain a healthy weight, we need to both eat well and move more. Many families are making changes that will help them live healthier and longer. Visit www.nhs.co.uk/Change4Life or call 0300 123 3434 for more information.
DC Leisure can help you make some of those changes, in particular there are two behaviour changs recommended by Change4Life linked to activity:
Making sure kids do at least 60 minutes of physical activity - like playing outside, walking or swimming - every day. We're calling this ‘60 active minutes’.
Limiting ‘sitting down’ activities, like watching TV or playing computer games, and encouraging kids to do something more active. We're calling this ‘up and about’
Contact your nearest leisure centre to find out how we can help you to Change4Life.
